UIC RPC Director wins Best Critiquing in NAST Research Performance Evaluation Workshop

The UIC Research and Publication Center Director Dr. Renan Limjuco bagged the Best Critiquing Prize at he Regional Training Workshop on Research Performance Evaluation conducted by the Department of Science and Technology - national Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (DOST-NAST PHL) at the Pinnacle Hotel, Davao City, August 14-15, 2013.

Over 100 select administrators and faculty involved in research and publication of various public and private higher education institutions (HEIs) and agencies in Region XI participated in the said event. During the workshop, the participants were divided into six groups, each tasked to critique a research paper and make a Region XI R&D SWOT. The laudable prize was given to Dr. Limjuco after presenting the only research paper output that was not just critique - he personally edited the paper into an article worthy of publication in a refereed journal!

Dr. Limjuco also presented his group's SWOT during the workshop's output presentation. A part from him, the UIC delegation included Prof. Emma Sagarino, Dr. Ma. Eva San Juan, Dr. Ludivina Porticos, Dr. Cleofie Badang, Prof. Judee Nogodula, Prof. Sonia Morales, Prof. Mary Jane Barluado (who also presented their group's SWOT), Prof. Rvin Servillon, Prof. Eric John Emberda, Prof. Neil Capricho, Dr. Ma. Teresa Gravino, Prof. Mona Laya, Prof. John Rey Aleria, Prof. Marilou Tablizo, Prof. Girlie Mae Zabala, Prof. Nelyn Mae Cadotdot, and Prof. Russell Caesar Enoc.

The event was part of the government's regional program to raise the nation's scientific research and publication status in the international landscape by empowering the nation's research scientists. it utilized experts to share on the following topics/issues: research performance evaluation in the academe and research institutions; writing scientific articles; scientific mentoring and formation of research groups; and ethics in research and development. Another highlight of the event was the Day 2 Speakers Bureau wherein invited national experts talked about their current undertakings on the fields of Nanotechnology and Biosafety.
